How This Podcast Came About
It all started with an idea and a simple phone call.
“Do you fancy making a podcast, Mick?”
“Yeah, why not?”
And that was pretty much it.
We both bought a £20 microphone from Amazon, figured out how to record ourselves on Zoom, and Dave learned how to edit the recordings and get them online. There was no studio, no production team and certainly no grand business plan — just two plasterers having a chat and seeing where it might lead.
Our first podcast went out in September 2025, and we set ourselves what we thought was an ambitious target: 1,000 downloads by New Year’s Day.
We reached it by November.
From there, the podcast just kept growing. The name changed a few times along the way until we finally settled on the one that seemed to fit us perfectly:
The Plasterers Podcast – The Mick & Dave Show.
What started with two £20 microphones and a phone call has now grown to over 30,000 downloads, with listeners across the UK, USA and around the world.
And the best bit?
We’re still just Mick and Dave, having a chat about the trade we know and love.
